what is the use of it in experiments when acids are dissolved in metal carbonates/metal hydrogen carbonates ?

Thistle funnel is a piecee of laboratory glassware consisting of a shaft of tube with a reservoir and funnel like section at top. It is used to pour acids in a beaker for reaction between acids and metal carbonate or metal hydrogen carbonate.
