Expert Answer
Hi Sambhav,
The column rank of a matrix is the number of linearly independent rows in a matrix and the row rank is the number of linearly independent rows in the matrix. However as both the row and the column ranks are equal it is simply refered to as the rank of the matrix.
Example:
Rank of the above matrix is 2 as the number of linearly independent rows or columns is 2.
This can be found by converting the matrix to the row reduced echelon form.
