What is the basis of gender division in the society?

The basis of Gender division in the society is based on the division of work between the men and women. Since the beginning, women have been engaged in work that are essential but are not economic productive such as cleaning, cooking, taking care of younger ones etc. On the other hand, men work in various fields and earn money and thus men are given more importance. Gender division emerges out of stereo type roles that exists in the society.
