Expert Answer
- Depolarisation of the atria means contraction of the atria in the heart.
- The depolarisation is triggered by an electrical impulse from the sino-atrial node (SA Node) located in the right atrium.
- From there, the depolarisation impulse travels rapidly to the left atrium and branches off near another node called the AV node (atrioventricular node) that delays the impulse for a very short time.
- Then the impulse travels through a bunch of fibers to both ventricles that causes them to contract.
