FIR is a First Information Report that is filed in the police station by the victims of an offence or a crime. Various details of the nature of the crime is mentioned in it along witht the name of the victim. If victim suspects someone of the crime, he may also mention the name of the accused or the eye witness. It is only after an FIR is registered that police begins its investigations into the crime.
