The Jacobin Club in France was formed by the revolutionary forces of the country. It derived its name from a former convent of St Jacob in Paris. The members of Jacobin club were mostly less prosperious sections of the society. It included small shopkeepers, watch makers, pastry cooks, printers, daily wage earners and servants. It was the most popular and successful political club of France. The Jacobin club derived its name from a former convent of St Jacob in Paris.
In 1792, when the supplies of bread reduced, the Jacobins along with people stormed the Tuileries Palace and imprisoned the royal family of France. Thus they played an important role in the beginning of the French Revolution
