DDT is p, p'-Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane and is used as insecticide.
It is banned for the following reasons:
(i) Its high toxicity towards fish.
(ii) DDT is not metabolized very rapidly by animals instead it gets deposited and stored in the fatty tissues.
