Expert Answer
Blue crystals of copper sulfate have water molecules into the structure of the crystal. A chemical name for the blue crystals is copper sulfate pentahydrate.
When you heat the crystals, some of the water is lost, and the new compound, the anhydrous copper sulfate is formed and the blue color is lost as the later is white in color.
