2. They operate on a large scale and enjoy monopolistic powers, thus availing economies of large-scale operations. 

Demerits of statutory corporations:

1. Individuals cannot change the object and functions without amending the statute because the constitution is more rigid in nature.
2. There is political interference in the management because of huge investment.
