Transverse waves:

1. Particles of the medium vibrate perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave.

2. Ex: Spring tied at one end, allowed to move up and down.

3. As the wave is moving in one direction, it creates disturbance in a different direction.

 Ex:  Water waves cause disturbance in up-down direction though it travels towards one direction.

4. We can polarise a transverse wave.

5. All waves travel in one plane.

6. They have physical peaks and troughs.
