Two blocks A and B of masses M1 and M2 respectively are connected by a massless and inextensible string. The whole system is suspended by a massless spring as shown in figure. Find time period of A when string is cut.

Angular Frequency ω of oscillation of spring-mass system is given as
 
begin mathsize 14px style omega space equals space square root of k over m end root end style
where k is spring constant and m is mass of block that is oscillating.
 
After the string between block-A abd block-B is cut , only mass of block-A is oscillating .
 
Hence angular frequency ω = { k / M1 }1/2
 
Frequency f of oscillation is given as
 
begin mathsize 14px style f space equals space fraction numerator 1 over denominator 2 pi end fraction square root of k over M subscript 1 end root end style
