Expert Answer
1) Covalent compounds are soluble in organic solvents (non-polar) but insoluble in water (polar).
This is because organic solvents (non-polar) like benzene, alcohol dissolve non-polar covalent compounds. (Like dissolves like).
Water is a polar solvent and cannot dissolve non-polar covalent compounds, but dissolves polar.
2) Conditions for conducting electrcity are delocalised or free electrons, that can move throughout the structure and carry charge. In covalent compounds, there are no free electrons (as electrons are shared; there are no ions, hence no free electrons), so covalent compounds do not conduct electricity.
