Relation between h d and u
Asked by Prashant DIGHE | 13 Jul, 2019, 09:58: AM
Expert Answer
Let particle P1 is dropped from height h. If it hits the ground after t seconds, then we have, h = (1/2)gt2 ...............(1)
during this time t seconds, particle P2 has travelled a horizontal distance d with horizontal velocity u m/s.
Hence we have, t = d/u .................(2)
substituting for t using eqn(2), eqn.(1) is rewritten as, h = (1/2) g (d/u)2
hence we have, h = gd2 /(2u2)
