To determine whether the zeros of the polynomial P(x)=x2+88x+125 are positive or negative
Using the relation between the zeros and coefficient, we have
Sum of zeros=88
Product of zeros = 125 > 0
Product of two numbers is positive when both are positive or both are negative.
This means that both the zeros of P(x) are either positive or negative.
As the sum of the zeros is positive and both are of the same type i.e. either noth positive or both negative
And sum of two negative numbers is negative, so the zeros can't be negative.
Hence, zeros of the quadratic polynomial P(x) are both positive.
