In two dimensional caretesian coordinate system, the equation " y = m x + c " represents a straight line with slope m and y intercept is c .
The meaning of "y intercept c " is the line passing through (0, c ).
If the line is parallel to y -axis , then equation of the line is " x = α " , i.e. the line is passing through ( α , y ) where α is given constant and y can be any thing.
Slope of equation of line x = α is infinity and the line is perpendicular to x-axis.
If the line is parallel to x -axis , then equation of the line is " y = β " , i.e. the line is passing through ( x , β ) where β is given constant and x can be any thing.
Slope of equation of line y = β is zero and the line is perpendicular to y-axis.
