Expert Answer
Let P represent A grade in physics, C represents A grade in chemistry and M represent A grade in Maths.
According to the question,
P(P) = 0.2, P(C) = 0.3, P(M) = 0.9, P(P') = 0.8, P(C') = 0.7 and P(M') = 0.1
Required probability has three cases :
i) P(A grade in P and C but not in M) = 0.2 × 0.3 × 0.1
ii) P(A grade in C and M but not in P) = 0.3 × 0.9 × 0.8
iii) P(A grade in M and P but not in C) = 0.9 × 0.2 × 0.7
Required probability is sum of i), ii) and iii)
