The Indian National Congress was founded in 1885 by A.O.Hume. In the initial years, the aims of the Indian Natinal Congress were:
- To increase the representation of the Indians in the Legislative Councils
- To appoint Indians on higher position in the government bodies.
In the later years, the main objective of the Congress was to attain 'Swaraj' or complete independence from the British rule.
