The Indian constitution has borrowed the following features from the below countries:

• It has borrowed basic features of our constitutions like the parliamentary for of the government, the concept of Rule of law, Single Citizenship, cabinet system and Prerogative writs from Great Britain.
• It has borrowed Directive Principles of State Policy, method of election of the President, the nomination of members to the Rajya Sabha by the President from the Constitution of Ireland.
• The Indian Constitution has taken the process of impeachment of the President and judges of Supreme Court and High Courts, functions of Vresident and Vice-President, the concept of judicial review, Preamble of the constitution and Independence of judiciary from the American Constitution.
• From Canada, it has taken the system of appointment of governors by the President and the Advisory jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.
• It has adopted fundamental duties and the ideals of justice (social, economic and political), expressed in the Preamble from Russia.

• The feature of suspension of fundamental rights during emergency has been borrowed from the German Constitution.
