Dear Student,
Yes we can use different signs for different aatoms of different elements. But it is better to use same sign for the electrons of different atomsof same type of element.
That means if there are two atoms of carbon atoms and four atoms of hydrogen atoms in a compound, then it is better to use same sign for the electrons of both carbon atoms and same (but different than that used for elecrrons belonging to carbon) sign for the electrons of four hydrogen atoms.
