In an election between two candidates one candidate received 55% of the total votes and wins the election by 12000 votes find the total number of votes secured by the defeated candidate

Expert Answer
Let one of the candidate received (defeated team) = x votes
→ number of votes received by other candidate = x + 12,000 (won the election)
Total number of votes = 2x + 12,000
According to the condition,
Thefore, the defeated team secured 54000 votes.
