if we are to compare acceleration b/w 2 bodies, the steepness of the slope is to be seen ,then what to do in case of decelration?

In case of deceleration, the slope of velocity-time graph is negative since the velocity of the body is decreasing uniformly with time. However, in this case also, larger the negative slope larger is the deceleration. So the steepness of the negative slope is used to compare the deceleration of two bodies.
