In above expressions, a, b and c are sides of triangle .
By cosine rule, we have , a2 = b2 + c2 - 2bc cosA
Hence , we get, b2 + c2 = a2 + 2 b c cosA
If we substitute ( b2 + c2 ) in the expression for tan2θ and after simplification, we get
