How is simple squamous different from stratified squamous

In simple squamous epithelium, only a single layer of epithelial cells are present whereas stratified squamous epithelium shows several layers of epithelial cells. Stratified epithelium is present in skin to prevent the wear and tear. Simple squamous epithelium is present in lining of blood vessels, lung alveoli, oesophagus and lining of mouth.
