gravitation:acceleration and mass

Expert Answer
The acceleration produced is a = F/m, where F is the gravitational pull of earth and m is the mass of the body.
but the gravitatinal pull is given by Newton's Law of Gravitattion, F = GMm/r2 = mg where G is the Gravitational Constant, M is the mass of the earth, r is the distance between the centre of earth and the centre of the body, and g is the acceleration due to gravity.
a = mg/m = g.
or
a = (GMm/r2 )/m = GM/r2
As we can see this doesn't depend upon mass of the body.
