Butane has a formula of C4H10. It has two isomers. One is a straight chain isomer and the other one is a branched isomer. The straight chain isomer is known as n-Butane or simply Butane. It has the following structure
CH3-CH2-CH2-CH3
or
The branched isomer of butane is called isobutane. Its IUPAC name is 2-Methylpropane. It has the following structure
CH3-CH(CH3)-CH3
or
Butene is an alkene with the chemical formula C4H8. It has three isomers _
But-1-ene which has the following structure
H2C=CH-CH2-CH3
But-2-ene which has the following structure
H3C-CH=CH-CH3
and isobutene which has the following structure
H3C-C(CH3)=CH2
