Dendrites are short, branching processes whereas axon is a long and cylindrical process.
Dendrites receive impulses whereas axon carries away the impulses from the cell body.
Axon shows nucleus and medullary sheath, which are absent in dendrites.
Neurotransmitters are released from the synaptic knob of axon. No neurotransmitters are released from dendrites.
