answered-by-expert Expert Answer
Molar mass of glucose (C6H12O6) = 180 g/mol

Atomic mass of O = 16

Atomic mass of H = 1

Atomic mass of C = 12

1 mole of glucose = Molar mass of glucose = 180 g

So, 180 gm of glucose contains 96 gm of oxygen

Therefore 100 gm of glucose will contain,

equals space fraction numerator 96 cross times 100 over denominator 180 end fraction

equals space 53.33 percent sign

180 gm of glucose contains 6 gm of hydrogen

So % of hydrogen is

equals 12 over 180 cross times 100

equals space 6.66 percent sign

180 gm of glucose contains 72 gm of carbon

So % of carbon is

equals 72 over 180 cross times 100

equals 40 percent sign

Percentage composition of C, H and O in glucose is 40%, 6.66% and 53.33% respectively.
