We have to find the maximum number of column in which an army contigent of 616 memebers march behind a band of 32 members.
Maximum number of columns = HCF (616,32)
Using Euclid's division algorithm,
616 = 32 x 19 + 8
32 = 8 x 4 + 0
So, the HCF (616,32) = 8
Therefore, they can march in 8 columns.
