3ax-6xy+8by-4ab
Try taking common from first two terms.
3x is common between 3ax-6xy and -4b is common between 8by-4ab
3x(a-2y) - 4b(a-2y)
Now take (a-2y) common, we get
(a-2y)(3x-4b)
