Expert Answer:
Lawn sprinkler consists of a motor which imparts energy to water. This energy can be in the form of potential energy (imparted by raising the level of water from ground to a height above it) or pressure energy. This energy gets converted to kinetic energy when, the sprinkler releases water. This kinetic energy gained by water will force it to follow a parabolic path and this is how, water comes down to the ground.
