Magazines were attractive and more attuned to the needs of the readers since they were often illustrated and cheap. Serialisation of novels in such magazines allowed the readers to relish the suspense, discuss the characters of a novel and love for weeks within the imaginary world described by the writer. One of the most famous novels in English literature, ‘Pickwick Papers’, written by Charles Dickens, was serialized in such fashion in a magazine in the year 1836.
