Expert Answer:

Neuron is a cell of nervous tissue. It consists of a cell body or cyton, with a central nucleus and cytoplasm containing Nissl's granules. Short, thin branching processes called dendrites arise from the cyton. There also arises a long, cylindrical process calles axon from the cyton. Axon gives out fine branches terminally, each of which ends in a swollen synaptic knob.
