Expert Answer:

The answer is d, i.e the diametre of the circle is 24m.

Solution: Drop a perpendicular from point P and Q on SR. Let these points be T and U.

Now Consider PST and QUR

PTS = QUR

PS = QR = 25 cm

PT = QU (perpendicular distance between a pair of parallel lines)

PST QUR

ST = UR (by cpct)

ST + UR + TU = 32

2ST + TU = 32       [since ST =RU and TU = PQ]

ST = 7

In PST, using pythagoras theorem

PS2 = PT2 + ST2

PT2 = 625 - 49 = 576

PT = 24 cm

Diametre = PT = 24 cm
