CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O
  • It is a combustion reaction of methane.
  • In this kind of reaction, carbon dioxide and water are always the products.
  • Here methane gets oxidised and  oxygen gas gets reduced.
  • Hence the reaction is oxidation-reduction type of reaction in which methane is reducing agent and oxygen gas is oxidising agent.
