carbon has 4 valence electrons it forms 4 covalent bonds why does it not form 1 triple covalent bond and 1 single covalent bond rather than forming 4 single covalent bonds?

Carbon does form a triple bond alongwith single bond. Examples are alkynes, for example C2H2.
