Identifying Drainage Patterns
The rivers form various drainage pattern due to the development of streams from a river. Below are the various drainage patterns:
· When the drainage appears to form branches like patterns, then it is called dendritic drainage patterns.
· When drainage is arising from a contour, it is called radial drainage pattern.
· When drainage joins a small stream, it is called trellised drainage pattern.
· When a stream moves to a short distance and disappears, it is called a disappearing stream. A solid line indicates that the stream moved for a short distance, but then if a solid line becomes dotted line, it shows a disappearing stream.
