Benzene (C6H6)+Acetic anhydride [(CH3CO)2O] → (CH3COC6H5) + Zn-Hg and HCl → CH3CH3C6H5
1) when benzene is heated with acetic anhydride and anhydrous AlCl3 is acetophenone (C6 H5−CO−CH3). H atom of benzene is replaced with acetyl (CH3−CO−) group.
2)Ketones reduce with Zn/Hg and hydrochloric acid to give the corresponding hydrocarbon.
Hence the final product obtained will be CH3CH3C6H5
