An object is placed at distance of f/2 in front of convex lens of focal length 'f'.
If the object is at f/2 distance then it means it is between the focus and optical centre of lens
And we know, that when an object is placed between the focus and optical centre of convex lens then the image is formed behind the object and the nature of image is virtual, erect and magnified.

By lens formula,
1 over f equals 1 over v minus 1 over u
1 over f equals 1 over v minus fraction numerator 1 over denominator open parentheses begin display style bevelled fraction numerator negative f over denominator 2 end fraction end style close parentheses end fraction
S o l v i n g space t h i s space w e space g e t comma space
1 over v equals fraction numerator negative begin display style bevelled f over 2 end style over denominator begin display style bevelled f squared over 2 end style end fraction
v equals space fraction numerator bevelled f squared over 2 over denominator negative bevelled f over 2 end fraction equals space minus f space
Hence, if object is placed at f/2 distance then the image is formed behind the object at focal length. Negative sign indicates that image if forned at same side as that of object.
