Asked by SSHHII | 27 Jun, 2009, 11:15: PM
Expert Answer
Three letters each to which corrsponds an adressed envelope are placed in envelopes at random
I letter can be put in any of the three envelopes so 3 ways
II letter can be put in any of the remaining 2 envelopes so 2ways
III letter will have only 1 way
So totalnumber of ways in which 3 letters canbe arranged in 3 envelopes =3x2x1= 6 ways
There is only 1 way in which they can be arranged correctly
SoProbability = no. of fav events/totalevents = 1/6
Hope the answer is clear now
