CBSE Class 10 Answered
A horse and an ox are tied to a pet at opposite corners of a rectangular field of dimension 35 m x 20 m by ropes of length 5 m and 10 m respectively (use pi=3.14 )
The area of the field that the horse can graze is given by ------- sq.m
The area of the field the ox can graze is a-------- sq.m.
The area of the field left to be grazed is --------- sq.m.
If the rope to which horse is tied would have been 8 m long, then the increase in the grazing area is given by _______ sq.m.

Figure shows the field of size 35 m x 20 m . Let the horse is tied at corber D with a rope of length 5 m .
Let the Ox be tied at corner B with rope of length 10m .
Total area of the field = 35 m × 20 m = 700 m2
Area gazed by Horse = ( π / 4 ) 5 × 5 = 19.63 m2
Area gazed by Ox = ( π / 4 ) 10 × 10 = 78.54 m2
Area left to be gazed = ( 700 - 19.63 -78.54 ) = 601.83 m2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If the horse is tied to a rope of length 8 m , then area gazed by horse = ( π / 4 ) 8 × 8 = 50.26 m2
Increase in gazed area = ( 50.26 - 19.63 ) m2 = 30.63 m2
