Lens maker formula for spherical lens is

where μ is refractive index of material of lens , R1 and R2 are radius of curvature of spherical surfaces.
If both spherical surfaces are convex , then one spherical surface has positive radius of curvature
and other one has negative radius of curvature
if refractive index μ = 1.5 and R1 = R and R2 = - R , then from eqn.(1) , we get
Hence foal length = R
