Base pair means two complementary nucleotides one of which is purine (Adenine or Guanine) and the other is pyrimidine (Thymine or Cytosine). Adenine always pairs with Thymine or vice versa and Guanine always pairs with Cytosine or vice versa.

Hence 1 base pair has 2 nucleotides, so 5600 nitrogenous bases will have 5600 x 2 = 11200 nucleotides.

If there are 1000 cytosine residues, then there will be 1000 guanine residues.

So, there will be 2000 cytosine and guanine residues.

Now, no. of adenine will be equal to thymine residues.

Therefore, there will be 1000 – 2000 = 8000 residues of adenine and thymine together.

Since, adenine = thymine, the total number of thymine residues would be 4000.
