a body of mass 2kg is allowed to fall freely from a height of 5m above the ground. what is the total energy of the body at the half of the journeyhal body at the half of the jo

When mass is at height 5 m
Its potential energy = mgh
g = 9.8 m/s2
Thus, P.E. = 2 x 9.8 x 5 = 98 J
Wehn object is at maximum height P.E. = maximum and K.E. = 0
When ball is allowed to fall down and reaches the midpoint of the height
h = 2.5 m
Thus,
P.E = 2 x 9.8 x 2.5 = 49 J
We know,
Total energy = Potential energy + Kinetic energy .... (by law of conservation of energy)
In this case,
T.E. = 98 J
as at half of the journey in this case - K.E. = 49 J and P.E. = 49 J
