Expert Answer:
2x2 + 3x + 1
= 2x2 + 2x + x + 1
= 2x(x + 1) + 1(x + 1)
= (x + 1)(2x + 1)
When 2x2 + 3x + 1 is divided by (x + 2), we get
remainder = 2(-2)2 + 3(-2) + 1 = 2 x 4 - 6 + 1 = 8 - 6 + 1 = 3
