The Frequency of a sound wave is just the reciprocal of time period. Why is it so?

Frequency is defined as the number of oscillations per second.One complete oscillation of a sound wave is called a Cycle. Hertz simply measures the frequency of the cycle.  One Hertz is the equal to one Cycle per second.
time period, T = reciprocal of frequency
