a salt is formed between a bivalent metal cation and an oxy acid of a non-metal.The ous acid of the non-metal has two oxygen atoms per molecule.if the salt contains a radical of per acid of the same non-metal,calculate the no. of atoms of various elements present in 0.5 moles of salt.

(i)           Let the metal cation be A2+

(ii)          Oxy acid means compounds containing hydrogen, oxygen, and another element.

(iii)         The 'per' acidic radical will be ClO4-  since it is a per acid ion and formula of salt will be A(ClO4)2

(iv)         Now, determine the number of atoms of each constituent element present in one molecule of the salt.

Cl = 2NA atoms, O = 8NA atoms in 1 molecule of salt i.e. in 1 mole of salt.

(v)          Now, the number of atoms of each constituent element present in 0.5 moles of the salt will be

Cl = NA atoms, O = 4NA atoms

Where NA is Avogadro's number
