Two objects are said to be congruent if they exactly superimpose on each other. 

For two triangles to be similar, their corresponding sides should be in equal proportion and corresponding angles equal. 

The basic proportionality theorem states that if a line is parallel to a side of a triangle which intersects the other sides into two distinct points, then the line divides those sides in proportion.

Two objects are said to be similar if they are in equal proportion.
