Valency of carbon is 4 , in case of alkene whatever the no. of carbon be there in the structure it will have min. one double bond .
Starting from first homologues in the series, it needs to have atleast two carbon for the formation of double bond because carbon cannot form double bond with hydrogen.
Similarly in the case of alkenes,
whatever the no. of carbon atoms present in the structure it will have a minimum one triple bond should be there, hence alkenes will also start from minimum two carbon atoms.
