Expert Answer
Mahmud of Ghazni wanted to build a magnificent empire in Central Asia. He also wanted to build a large army to annex and protect his territories in the region. India at this time was known for its riches. Its temples were the centres of wealth. Northern India was divided into several states fighting with each other for supremacy. thus, there was a lack of political unity in the country. Due to all these conditions Mahmud of Ghazni invaded India several times.
