why indian govt. wants foreign companies to invest in india?

Expert Answer
The government allowed the foreign companies to invest in the Indian markets because it will force the Indian producers to improve the quality of their goods and services. Also, it gives fresh impetus to Indian government’s stuttering economic programme and different meaures to ease the restrictions faced by globl companies in sectors such as defence and retail.
